Chronicles of Riddick - Escape From Butcher Bay = AWESOME!

Finished HL2 late last week so I figured I would start something else. Heard all the good reviews on this game so decided to pick it up this morning. I have to say this game came out of nowhere to surprise me. I wasn't expecting this game to be this much fun but it's sweet. It actually makes you feel like you're in a movie. Production on this game is very well done. A smile came on my face the first time I got a guard to shoot himself in the head with his own gun.

Definitely as good as HL2. This game and HL2 are running neck and neck for FPS of the year in my book.

I got my hands on this game just 2 days ago and I have to say .... WOW. If Game of the Year awards go to the most unexpectedly amazing games, this one deserves it. Infact, I like it better than HL2 & Doom 3 in terms of the fun factor.

What makes this game so great?

1) The game plays out like a movie, literally, which makes it extermely immersive and fun.
2) Graphics are amazing -> bump-mapping, dynamic lighting (like Doom 3 but much better textures).
3) Voice acting is unparalleled -> gives every character its own unique identity.
4) Unique in many ways from the menu to the way the game plays out -> a perfect mixture of stealth, action, adventure. Does all of these better than games that emphasize solely one of these elements.
5) The atmosphere/environment of prisons is so well-illustrated, I almost feel I'm there. Some bad-ass prisoners there! (Sigmund Floyd)

Great game. I do agree with most of the points that Barracuda made.
But as far as OP comment (neck to neck with HL2) I have to say this : :roll:

How well does this game run on mid-range systems? Mine's a XP-M 2600@2.4Ghz (182 FSB), 9800Pro@XT speeds, and a gig of RAM.

You need a decent system for the Starbreeze Engine - I am running a P4 @3.2Ghz/Radeon 9800xt/1GN PC3500) at 10x7 with everything 'On' amd Max Detail and Shadows . . . . No AA/AF or Vsynch . . . runs very well with excellent gfx.
