To start off, yes, I know it's a built in function.

However, it is NOT possible from within extensions.

I'm playing around with Awesome New Tab Page, and it's, well, awesome... :p
save for the fact that the closed tabs function is only half-functional in my opinion; from a re-opened tab, clicking Back takes you back to the new tab page.

And it seems that is how it is in every extension that works with tabs, of any sort. Sexy Undo Close Tab ? Awesome, but cannot give you browsing history for that tab.

I find this a crucial feature for such a function. With Chrome, am I shit out of luck (save for Shift-CTRL-T, one by one...), unless in this case, I stick with the default New Tab Page and make use of that Recently Closed Tabs feature?
I liked that NTP well enough, but since discovering ANTP, I don't know if I want to go back. :p

There's no chrome extension available right now to manage closed tabs that saves the tab's history so you can go backwards after restoring the tab.

It's so easy on Firefox...
