Chrome Orb on P3's

Ok, this has been asked several times, but never answered:

Will a Chrome Orb work on P3's? It certainly fits the socket370 without any problems, but is the hight of the contact area too high? too low?

Any thoughts by anyone are appreciated.....

The chrome orb is made for Socket 420. The golden orb was made for socket 370. It will fit on a P3, but it might put to much or not enough pressure on the core.

Thanx, I gathered that much. I was looking for a more specific answer: too much pressure, not enough, or no problem.

I think he means socket 423 for P4

Yeah thats what I ment, socket 462, sorry bout that.

I would recomend you use a Golden orb just to be sure. But I belive the AMD Core is higher then the P3 core, so the chrome orb would be putting not enough pressure on the P3. I could be wrong though.

well, i tried it and it seems to work...though there isn't alot of room for the clamp next to the capcitors....i opted for a set of volcano II's for my 933's

For future ref though...the chrome orb will work if you have the clearance....

can't mod the clamp, as it is not your standard wave spring type.
