Google released version 6 of Chrome recently. A release in the version 5.x range added built in support for Adobe Flash. This release adds support for reading PDFs.

I thank you Google. I will never have to install or update Acrobat Reader of Flash again or deal with than damn Adobe Download Manager or have Adobe AIR installed against my will. All of my plugins will be kept updated with automatic-updates from Google.

Thank you for liberating me from Adobe.... or at least dealing with Adobe directly as it does run flash behind the scenes, but I do not have to update it myself.

*Adobe Flash Player integrated.
*Built-in PDF support.

Maybe I'm just naive, but wouldn't this mean Google would need to either have different feature sets for Flash/PDF, or you'll need to update your browser to protect from the vulnerabilities Adobe patches for?

I mean, if some new exploit for PDFs is found, won't there need to be a patch somewhere along the way, no matter who develops the player?

Doesn't this mean that when a vuln is discovered, that you would have to upgrade your entire browser, instead of just disabling a plugin?

Fudge. They still didnt restore the multiple lines of Most Visited Sites on the home screen.
And they didnt put a zoom icon in the corner. BUT there is a zoom feature under the tools.

You can disable the plugin manually via the method outlined above. One of the nice things is that you do not have to worry about updating flash, acrobat reader and your browser, just your browser.

I rather die than use Chrome as a browser. It slows down as the more tabs you have open, can't customize it as much, and it crashes a lot.

Maybe version 1.0. My entire family has been using Chrome for over a year now, and it has been very stable. There are a few websites / web pages (like hour-by-hour on Weather.com) that don't work in Chrome, but being a web programmer myself, I understand why.

Unless you're running on a very old machine or otherwise have software problems going on, Chrome shouldn't be giving you any issues. I regularly find it much more stable than Firefox 3.6.x.

Sorry but there is nothing in the world you can do or say to me to convince me to use Chrome.

I'm a self proclaimed Oprea Fanboi. Seriously Opera can do almost anything any other browser can do and can do it without addons and while being faster.

To each their own. There are at least two other good browsers to choose from (depending on your wants / needs), so it's not like it matters much anyway. I don't care what browser you use, but please don't spread rumors that Chrome is a POS. It's not, plain and simple.

:)

They make those manual installers hard to find though, unless you remember the URL. They really really want you to install Adobe Download manager for some reason.

Fucking terrible, they should've just helped to progress development of the already existing free alternatives to both. Now I've got to pay more attention to my Chrome updates.
