I have done numerous tests myself with Chrome 5 and it beats all browsers in speed and rendering. You click and the site is instantly shown to you. Other browsers first fetch it takes a split second then goes to site and loads images and u wait for that too. But Chrome just loads everything in 0.001 seconds and you see everything at once not images loading like IE or Opera or Firefox..

I hope Firefox 4 final is as fast. I use Fox now only for FTP , and Chrome for surfing. IE8 is out of the question, not even worth mentioning in this thread, its a horrible browser and its what most consumers use not us Anand gurus...... :)

IE is getting there. Should be interesting when IE9 and FF4 final are released.

When you're only dealing with one tab at a time, but there must be a global or network thread lock because opening multiple tabs at once seems to happen synchronously. The tabs themselves appear, but the page doesn't usually display right away.

I noticed the same thing. Still think firefox is the best when it comes to a lot of tabs. Nothing can come close even with memory usage.

Isn't Opera currently the fastest browser or they at least win most benchmarks to my knowledge.

I really want to like Opera, and I do to some extent(more so than Chrome), but I get weird little issues with it which keep me from switching. Having the tabs locked to the top is the final nail in the coffin.

Same. That and I miss all my addons. No greasemonkey :(

You can modify pages with scripts. I have to run out right now, but try a search using "stylish opera" or something like that. You should be able to find how to modify pages, but it may not be to the extent you want.

Opera has support for Greasemonkey scripts it just requires a few tweaks to get them to work as User JS here is a good place to start looking. And most addons I always used in FF are found stock in Opera NoScript, Adblock WoT is enabled through a user JS its there its just not a simple interface and may require some poking around.

Also you can get tabs below your address bar in opera. You have to go to Appearance > Toolbars enable the Main Bar and remove the Address Bar. Then just go to buttons and add anything you would want on your address bar (Back, Forward, refresh, home, address bar, search are what are on most address bars by default).

It will end up close to something like this obvious tweaked to look more like what you would want visually.

If only that was true. I tried a lot of the greasemonkey scripts that I use in Opera once before and none of them work. They really change the page a lot though. Remember reading that a lot just don't work in Opera and even Chrome. Firefox is just more customizable when it comes to changing a website's look totally or adding something to it.

My system has the triple-engine browser Lunascape installed as well as the double-engine browser Maxthon3. Honestly, I never bother with Webkit and barely use Gecko. On this computer, it is almost always Trident.

From the link I linked this adds all missing variable calls that a greasemonkey script may add enabling Opera to fully support most if not all GreaseMonkey scripts that don't work out of the box.

I would give my left arm to be able to use the Norwegian's company browser, Opera! To bad it will not become a reality.

IE8 64 bit is the fastest from my very recent experiences.... I haven't even touched IE for years... probably longer than most of you. I was VERY surprised to see IE go so fast.... faster than firefox. The fact is that IE is compitable with pretty much everything too.... best currently IMO.

FF has become very bloated and TBH it's been that way for years. It takes FOREVER to start and is pretty god damn slow @ this point.

Opera has WAY to many browser compatibility issues for me. I really wanted it to work, but it didn't. Honestly I wanted this to be my new go to.... it's SO close, right @ the threshold.....

Flock is gonna get a mention from me. FF ripoff that's slightly less bloated. I'll give it a recomendation though.

In Opera

Right Click > Edit Site Preferences > Network > Identify as FF or IE

gets most sites with rendering issues to work correctly. If a site is built poorly it often sends nonusable code through to Opera. If you identify to the site as IE or FF it will send you the correct renderable code.
