Chrome high cpu usage

Am i the only on in here that suffers from high cpu usage from chrome ? mainly with animated gifs and flash.....

flash takes double the cpu the other browsers use and when it comes to animated .gifs it takes 100% cpu where as firefox would only take 10%

anyone else encounter this ?

i thought chrome was suppose to be out of beta for macs

yes this is why flash sucks. isn't the chrome flash statically linked into the chrome? if so does that mean it can not make use of a Nvidia card for acceleration?

I thought Chrome had that "update behind your back" stuff in it? At least I remember reading about it on the Windows version, I never worried about it myself since I only use it on Linux and my user doesn't have write access to it's installation directory.

Of course not, in fact it's the exact opposite for security and stability reasons. Chromium and the like started running plugins in separate processes so that when they crash the whole browser isn't taken down with them. And I really doubt Adobe would go for Google shipping statically linked and eventually old versions of their plugin.

i did a clean install and the flash issues i kind of understand after reading that link but i still dont get why animated .gifs take 90% cpu.

yeah what drives me crazy is:

new flash patch for security hole:

flash activex 32bit
flash for chrome/firefox (but now chrome has its own)

flash activex 64bit
firefox 64bit (isn't it out yet?)

thats 3-4 times to fix one friggen bug. kill flash!!

Flash might be the worst energy waster in the history of computers, think of how much energy could have been saved with better coding on youtube alone.

Flash has a lot of things going against it, however I don't think global warming even makes the list. I mean hell, me getting drunk and leaving all the lights on in my place probably wastes more energy than Flash ever thought about using since it's inception.

thast why i said "computer history" and not just history. Cant think of anything that has wasted more energy when it comes to computers besides maybe processors before they had cool n quiet technology that under clocks your processor when you are not using it
