Chrome Engine

I am very impressed with the Chrome Engine... I remember the game that came out about 4 years ago and nothing really came of it, but then I learned the Call of Jaurez is based on the Chrome Engine... It rivals some of the best I have seen...

Anyone have anymore information on these Polish devs? I think they are an outstanding team based upon Call of Juarez alone!

Call of Juarez is an absolute pig for level load times and also when you start turning up the details but the game does look great, even in DX8 mode. Vegetation shadows in particular look stunning.

For me this is one of the three best games that really demonstrate how shadows can have a hugely positive effect on immersion; the other two games are Doom 3 and Fear.

I couldn't stand to play the Call of Juarez demo because the load times were just so long. It's really insane how long it takes to load the level.

Call of Juarez does look amazing, though, especially in DX10, but it really is a system hog.

COJ looked great until that level where you had to go in the tunnels, The interior textures were awful and screamed RUSHED TO MARKET. It otherwise marred a decent game. Optimization seems to be a lost art. Games used to be optimized for all sorts of hardware but as of late things are ported by monkeys with hammers in their hands and stuff is shipped in alpha form let alone beta.
