Chrome clone roundup

Most reviews I find of the various blink engine browsers based on chromium are either outdated, not very comprehensive, or only cover a small selection.

I've been looking for a good chrome-clone and wonder what others are using or could recommend.

Slimjet I've used fairly extensively over the last year. It seems light and quick most of the time, but my biggest gripe is strange unresponsiveness(interface lag) in HTML5 video streams like youtube from time to time. It does have a nice built in download accelerator that works with many video stream sites like youtube.

Vivaldi I initially found slow on my work laptop and my old AMD machine. Since upgrading to much more powerful processor, vivaldi has really come alive. It seems to handle HTML5 streams best so far and it has the most customization I've seen from the blink browsers. Though it's bookmark handling is clumsier than some.

Brave I just recently downloaded and so far it feels very solid. The only annoyance so far is it seems to not be compatible with some chrome addons the others are, like ublockorigin. It has it's own adblocker but it's not as effective on some sites(youtube).

Opera I used a bit before I discovered slimjet. I'm less impressed with it's new ownership now. I'm not sure if it has any standout features anymore other than a built in VPN.

I still prefer firefox (specifically Palemoon which is based on a much older FF) for "power browsing" because the interface customization and addon library are unmatched for my purposes.

But FF in general, and palemoon especially, are just subpar with youtube and some HTML5 playback. So I always keep a blink browser installed and handy.

I also like to have a good knowledge base on the best blink browsers out there to recommend to friends and family who mostly prefer chrome.

Opinions on the browsers I listed? Other stand out chrome clones you have used or would recommend?

Why not chromium? Still tied to google, but not as tightly as chrome, and is free software.

I feel like FF (and its clones) shouldn't be considered super seriously these days until they clean up their act in regard to security.

I've used Vivaldi, it's not bad at all. I keep it installed to try out new features when they update. It was my daily for a while, but not being able to change middle-click behavior (among other little things) took me back to Chrome.

I'd always like to see something better. Lots of people in the world don't have powerful computers, heck, phones access the internet more than computers. So, what's the best browser that works on a phone and the possibly dwindling numbers of personal computers?

Just curious, what you mean by this, personally I don't think I noticed anything in the mainline FF
