My first post 🙂

I installed new avg and now chrome wont run, do not know what to do help would be appreciated

What did you have before for AV? If you uninstall AVG, does Chrome resume its normal functionality.

Did you tell AVG to install it's toolbar? If Chrome works fine without AVG, I would try re-installing AVG without the toolbar.

actually...it had a trial full version on it and worked fine. i downgraded to free after the trial and now it will not work. I put fire fox on it ...no problem...IE also works fine just not chrome. going to uninstall/ reinstall chrome

I remember reading a thread where AVG was causing a guy's browser to keep streaming videos even after he closed it. Seems like AVG causes issues with many browsers.

If reinstalling chrom doesn't work, ditch AVG and get another one, like bitdefender.

On Windows 7, I use AVG Free and Chrome with no issues.
Have used AVG for roughly past 10 years (from when it first arrived)

I suggest AVG uninstall using AVG removal tool - http://kb.eset.com/esetkb/index?page=content&id=SOLN146

Reboot upon completion so that boot driver can be removed.

I would install MSE (Windows 7) - http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/security-essentials-download

If Windows 8.1/8 - turn on Windows Defender -

Re-enable Windows Defender in Windows 8 (aka MSE in Windows 7, Vista)

OMFG dude! Did you not read the thread you made a comment here? http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2410864
