Topic Summary: Even SuperMan couldn't wait another 4 years...
As much as I agree on the holding back on Science, the post is uncalled for...
I think if you didn't mention Reeve particularly and started a thread that stated..
"It's time to end the fear of stem cell research."
"Sick people cannot wait four more years for meaningful research."
I you did that, I don't think anyone would've had a problem with it.
Using Reeve was an exploitation of his death.

You are a fvcking moron. ANY advances stem cell research leads us to wont be for another ~15-20 years, and stuff like fixing the paralyzed or people with parkinsons is even farther out. Thats with or without federal funding for embryonic stem cell research.

Well, if Christoper Reeve being alive meant that he would go around calling for embryos to be destroyed for his own benefit, then I'm happy he's gone.

You just killed your whole arguement. The link you posted is a case involving ADULT STEM CELLS, which is funded by the US Govt. Thats right, almost all of the advances to date are FROM ADULT STEMCELLS. Its quite well know adult stem cells from bone marrow have been able to turn into other cells, heart, liver, everything but spinal cord and brain cells.
And I am right when I said things like fixing the para/quadraplegics and other spinal/neruological things will take 15-20+ years. Plus right now there is a rather large amount of doubt on if stem cells can fix alzhemiers.
