Nolan is the only person that has wowed me. Especially with the Prestige. Fincher is a great director, quality stuff. But I disagree with his rabbid fanboys that think he is untouchable or some sort of deity.

I was blown away by The Prestige, but also blown away by Fight Club. In the end, I think I liked Fight Club a bit more. It provokes thought about manhood and societal norms.

...but some Fincher films fell flat with me.

Alien 3 (ugh...but not entirely his fault)
Panic Room
Big Fish

I haven't seen Gone Girl, but I expect I will dislike it (based on what I know of the plot).

Batman Begins is the only decent "Batman movie". The Dark Knight was fairly weak and had it not been for a standout performance by Heath Ledger, it would just be meh. The Dark Knight Rises was terrible.

100% agree. Heath's Joker made The Dark Knight worth watching, but the story jumps the shark and nukes the fridge -- and it's just entirely too long. Dark Knight Rises was indescribably dumb. Try convincing my friends of that...

The worst part about Gone Girl was there was an amazing movie there. Though, it isn't entirely Fincher's fault, but if they removed 90% of Rosamund Pike's scenes and expanded on the media frenzy / mystery aspect of it, it would have been amazing. They remove the entire mystery of whether or not Affleck is faking his "I didn't do it" or if he really did it.

How anyone can mention Fincher and not put "The Game" on their list knows diddly shit about David Fincher.

If you haven't seen it, you're doing a great disservice to yourself.
