Here's the deal - they do this every year, btw:

This weekend, Thursday Dec 6 thru Sunday Dec 9
Buy a XMAS TREE @ IKEA for $20. They were nice, got them 2 previous years as well.
Then they plant a tree for you .... somewhere .. on your behalf. I forget how this part goes exactly.

Then some weekend in January - I'll post it when I find out/remember - you take the tree back, with your receipt, and get a $20 off $50 GC.

So you basically get the tree for free, have to haul it twice, though. But wtf, it's clean fun.

This is at the IKEA in Norristown, PA. Not sure if all locations are doing this.

I noticed this too - here's what the mailer from IKEA says:

IKEA Christmas Tree Event
Buy a Christmas tree from IKEA starting December 6th - 9th for $20 and receive a coupon for $20 off an IKEA purchase of $50 or more. Coupon is redeemable from January 2 to March 1, 2002. For each tree sold, IKEA will donate $1.00 to American Forests' Global Releaf program to replant trees.

* All IKEA stores participating, except IKEA Emeryville and Shop by Phone. While supplies last. No limit on number of trees purchased.

Alright so I messed the details up a little. Also different this year (Norristown, PA): You can't / don't have to bring back the tree. We got 2 on Thursday night. They had 1500 originally. Maybe 500 left later that night, so chances are this didn't even last through all of Friday.
