Christmas songs that have nothing to do with Christmas

Oh the weather outside is frightful,
But the fire is so delightful,
And since we've no place to go,
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

It doesn't show signs of Stopping
And I've bought some corn for popping,
The lights are turned way down low,
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

When we finally kiss goodnight,
How I'll hate going out in the storm!
But if you'll really hold me tight,
All the way home I'll be warm.

The fire is slowly dying,
And, my dear, we're still good-bying,
But as long as you love me so,
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

So, basically, this song is about a couple that can't stop making out with each other because one of them is a wuss and doesn't want to go out in the cold.

Take that, baby Jesus!

:music:
Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens;
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens;
Brown paper packages tied up with strings;
These are a few of my favorite things.

Cream-colored ponies and crisp apple strudels;
Doorbells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles;
Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings;
These are a few of my favorite things.

Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes;
Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes;
Silver-white winters that melt into springs;
These are a few of my favorite things.

When the dog bites,
When the bee stings,
When I'm feeling sad,
I simply remember my favorite things,
And then I don't feel so bad.

:music:

This song has nothing to do with Christmas, yet it's always on those Christmas music stations.

The original Welsh lyrics of Deck the Halls are about New Year's, and also how awesome Wales is. The English turned it into a Christmas song, or a Yule song anyway.

Santa Claus songs have nothing to do with "Christmas" either...just the "Merchant's Holiday."

Baby It's Cold Outside, although not really a "Christmas Carol" one of my favorite Chirstmas songs... that are more modern and not traditional.

Christmas is just the modern word for Yule

Santa is just a new form of Odin

Jesus got nothing to do with the season.

If Jesus had wanted songs sung about him, he should have been on Arabic Idol and gotten a record deal.

Is Odin the dude that put Money in Peoples shoes? If so, I'll convert from FSM to that Religion in a heartbeat! Beats Shopping!! Umm, what kinda weird things would I have to do though. Don't wanna drink blood or something, but sacrificial Virgins would be ok. Some ATOT Members might stop posting, but whatever.

I've always hated that so many songs having nothing to do with Christmas always get associated with Christmas.

It's not like Jesus was actually born in the winter anyway.

Jesus is nothing more than an anthropomorphism of the sun. The sun "dies" during the winter solstice, is "dead" for 3 days, and is then re"born" (usually on Dec. 25th).

Uh, that (death and rebirth) is easter... but yea Christian Holidays are just convenient inventions overlapping other religions holidays to try to make others celebrate in the name of Christ.

This is still the reason for Christmas. Yes, the "resurrection" is celebrated in the spring (with bunnies, chocolate, and eggs :confused: ), but the sun is still "born" on Dec 25th.

I just heard that a few minutes ago while I was flipping channels. We have a local advertising channel that plays oldies music while showing a slide show of local ads and which, as of a couple of weeks ago, has been playing christmas music.
