I don't watch much TV; I rarely have it on. The first time in awhile I watched a few shows, and with them saw some of the holiday commericals they're showing.
The theme of these commercials have gotten worse, and its pissing me off. Buy this for your kids, it will make them happy! Tell your parents you want this, because its Christmas! Some Christians are blaming "Santa", but he was always about giving and sharing a brief moment of happiness with needy children. Now most of the commercials are mocking Santa because the stores can do so much better.
Sorry ladies and gentlemen, Christmas is no longer about Christ, Santa is no longer the mascot. Its 100% pure marketing now. There is no joy left. There is no meaning. I see the same thing happening to Valentine's day, Easter, and Halloween. I'm quite happy that Thanksgiving has been left fairly untarnished since it doesn't involve buying gifts or candy for everyone.
I now declare Christmas dead. It should be renamed Giftmas. We can move Christ Mass to another day and let the secular community enjoy their holiday of material values. :|
