Christmas present help needed - hooking up DVD player to OLD TV.

Ok, so I got my parents a DVD player. I tried to hook it up to thier old TV, but it has no RCA inputs. So, we hooked the DVD player up to Aux. In. on the VCR. The VCR is connected via coax cable to the catv input on the TV.

The problem is that the picture from the DVD is all screwed up. It'll look fine, then the color fades out, then the picture gets all distorted, then the picture gets normal and the color fades back in. It cycles like this every 15 seconds or so, fading from good picture to crappy picture. What peice of equipment to I need to make this work correctly? I tested the DVD player with the newer (and smaller) TV in the bedroom, and it works fine.

Thanks!

yeah won't work through the vcr cus of macrovision

you need a rca to whatever converter.... cost $20... you can pick one up at best buy

Yeah, a RF Modulator. Running it through the VCR is prob. causing the copyprotection to kick in.

Edit: Heh, ask a tech forum a question, and you're bound to get 5 answers in under 2 min.

The cycling of the colors is the MacroVision copyright protection. I believe there are devices that correct this, but might be cheaper to just invest in a new TV with video in.
