I want to get my husband a tv capture/dvr card for Christmas. He is picky! He likes fast and best. The price range is $150-$200. Do I get the ATI Radeon ? Which version? 9000? Or is there a better brand out there. HELP!!

ati all in wonder 8500 is a good card for capture
ati is better than nvidia in the capture department afaik

ati9000 is a dumbed down version of ati9700

look up some reviews on the 2 and see which one performs better/faster (im leaning towards 8500 if i can remember correctly, which atm is not working too well, need some sleep 😉)

The Radeon 9000/9000 Pro is meant to compete with the GeForce 4 MX line of cards. It is also slower than a GeForce 3 Ti200 in most benchmarks. You would be better off buying your hubby a 128MB GeForce 4 Ti4400 for $185ish IMHO.

I think you mean severely crippled 9700/9700 Pro. 🙂
