Do you think the traditional lights will disappear anytime soon. I love the classic vintage look. LED just doesn't do it for me :p

Not soon, but eventually. The ones I like are the old painted lamps. They got hot as shit though, and were a real fire hazzard. If I liked a particular old style light, I'd stock up. It doesn't cost much, so it isn't a big gamble.

I like them too, they are getting harder to find but the regular c7's are still around :)

I find they are already harder to get but Canadian Tire does carry them, I still use the C9's myself, though I might finally switch to LEDs, they are a bit better than when they first came out. What annoys me with LEDs is that they COULD be good but they are just badly engineered. If the string was sized to run on 170vdc then they could add a full bridge rectifier and a capacitor and they would not flicker like they do now. They could also use brighter LED modules in the bulbs to make them brighter. I find most of em are too dim.

I do use LEDs in my Christmas tree though. To fix the flicker issue I just bridge rectify them so they flash at 120hz instead of 60hz as it just flips the negative part of the sine wave to positive. So the flicker is a bit less noticeable and their duty cycle is higher so they appear brighter.

I stopped caring. The holiday season means it is another stressful time for my employer to layoff hundreds or thousands of employees in the 4th quarter. They love ruining holidays in addition to reducing workforce. It is like a cynical icing on the asshole cake. In fact, I've got a meeting in the next couple of hours related to reorg due to ... layoffs.

LED are a must when you go all out, trust me.
Yeah, do you want to install a bunch of extension cords, or install a bunch of lights? (When you can hookup (30) strings of LED lights in a series vs (3) c7’s)

My setup still has a ton of cords.

That shit pisses me off. Corporations have ZERO care about their employees, it's almost like they purposely pick the worse time of year to do this layoff shit, too.
