Okay, odd question for this time of year, but could you rig up a strand of christmas lights so they ran off a battery or batteries instead of having to plug them into the wall?

Wouldn't you just be able to splice the wires and run'em off a 9 volt or something? 😀
 
Yup.. The little cheap ones are pretty versatile.. you can run them from a 9volt or 6volt battery and they won't burn out.

But, you'll be burning a lot of batteries
