Christmas light fights

StageLeft

No Lifer
Christmas spirit aside, our apartment is situated such that all people going into our large complex see our apartment as they top a hill. We're on the third floor and it's our duty to have an impressive light show. Until two nights ago we had the best and then somebody matched us across the way. Then last night to my dismay I opened my eyes upon a sight more hellish than I'd ever imagined possible. A massive lit up cross, with lit up silouettes of the manger, all of this surrounded by thousands of glowing multi-colored lights affronted my very being and turned to shame the effort that I'd put forth 🙁

However it's not all for naught! For we are situated next to a level of stairs and I'm going to ask the apartment complex for special permission to carry our light over onto the stair railing and really give these people across the way something to think twice about! For when they lie in bed at night, eyes blinded by more light than the sun itself, they'll know that it was their own doing and not until the new year will they be able to rest easy!!!!!!!!!!

End of november baby. It was all me (and mrsskoorb)!

If you don't watch it I'll get a power convertor for my car and hang lights in the cabin.

Not as good as the guy who claimed he shot a carjacker dead and kept it going for 2 days before admitting to that forum that he was pulling a prank.
Still, everyone here calls these kinds of pranks, the Skoorb effect. 😛

Edit: Put proper name of Skoorb type pranks. 😛 😀

And I'll bet you had your tree up in November too...

Ring a bell?

No, no, it's the "Skoorb Effect" 😀

Oh, and as far as these people across the way ... three letters for ya.

PM for some design plans.* 😀

My mother did that one year. Except that she had the lights on the luggage rack and front grille of her suburban. Try asking to borrow the car for a date when you know it's lit up like a Christmas tree. 😱

I say bring on the war, the mrs. and I will be putting our lights up on our deck. We are also on the third floor, but facing the apt complex. Everyone who leaves our complex has to see the lights as they leave, there is no avoiding it. I say put the lights, tree, decorations up the day after thanksgiving. Our 8 foot REAL tree is already up and decorated.

No tree...not until just before Christmas.

Mind you, compared to what people have on their homes, we actually are running very little as we only have an apartment with apartment windows. The lights that are inside contribute to the overall heat wattage so in fact, not costing anything. Just think about it before you ask for an explanation and you will understand!

BTW: Come on Skoorbie, no more lights going up please! What we have is tasteful and not awful. I don't want it to be that.

EDIT: The lights when up Thanksgiving afternoon...turing them on the first of December is pretty much the norm where we are from!

Our tree went up on Saturday, decorated and lit up on Sunday evening

EDIT: Just realized that it was Dec 1st.

Here's a hint. if you are living in an apaprtment, you can't afford Christmas lights. That mney should be going towards your home down payment.

Who on earth said we could not afford a house?????

FYI: We do not pay rent, Skoorb's company does. Hence we are not throwing away money towards rent.

FYI2: We are here on TEMPORARY WORK VISAS. We are Canadian. Don't you think it would be wise to perhaps see if we were going to stay here longterm before investing in a house?

FYI3: Learn something about people before making rash judgements.

Back in high school I had 2 strands of lights on my truck as well as a 3 foot lawn santa on the roof rack. And yes, it was lighted.
Only got pulled over once in 4 years of doing that, and even then only given a warning. 🙂
