I'm pumped! Two more weeks and I can start unpacking and setting up all the decorations
I'm not religious by any definition, I just enjoy Christmas.
I imagine a lot of the younger people on this forum whose families celebrate Christmas probably view it as a chore and a bore (visiting the relatives you barely remember) and a drain on your wallet. I know that's how I saw it for a long time. But now that I'm older, that has changed.
Christmas has become a time of year when there is a sense of piecefulness underlying normal daily life (for me). Christmas is about good will and sharing regardless of religion. It's a time when I can set aside my usual cynical and selfish ways and spread some of that good will around.
I love the cold air, festive spirit, and buying presents for my family. Everywhere you go there are wreaths and trees and lights and a warm feeling kind of like when you take a sip of good rum. The weeks building up to Christmas are my favorite time of the year. I also love hosting a nice Christmas Eve party to exchange presents with the immediate family and close friends before the crazyness of Christmas Day.
But the thing I love most about Christmas is decorating the outside of the house. People walk by and look at my house and you can see the beaming smiles and appreciation in their eyes and that, to me, is what Christmas is all about.
Day after Thanksgiving, the fun begins!
Cliffs:
1. Christmas rocks.
2. Making your whole house glow is the best part!
