And I haven't heard from any of my 4 sisters and 1 brother this year. 🙁 I called my father last night, we had a great chat. Oh well, at least my wife and kids had a good day.

This is pretty typical of my family. I think they've taken the idea of "nuclear family" super-critical. (Pun intended)
 
Every family is different. Trying to imagine family different than they are only leads to disappointment and depression. I have siblings I haven't seen in over a decade.
