Christmas gift for grandfather

So I got the Harmony 550 remote as a gift to my grandfather, but I'm having second thoughts.

He's anything but tech savvy and always complains about his current remote control's inability to easily control the various functions of his television/home theater. Though I have no experience with them, the Harmony line of remotes seem to be geared towards simplifying the use of a home theater.

I fully intend to program the remote for his use but I'm wondering if it will be useful in this scenario.

My grandfather is 73 years old. He has NEVER laid a finger on a computer keyboard and is quite vocal on his disinterest in computers in general. This wouldn't be a concern to me if I didn't know that the remote I chose is actually programmed with a computer.

Like I said, I'm going to program it for him, but is this a good choice as a gift for someone who isn't that interested in new technology?

Will it be easy for him to pick up and use or will there be a significant learning curve?

get the remote programmed for him ahead of time if possible and spend as much time as you can going over it. harmony's are great remotes when they work, but can get quite confusing for those not in the know when they are not being cooperative. spend time making sure all the necessary buttons are programmed in and working - the last thing you want is for him to go use a button and its not doing what its supposed to. thats when youll be getting phone calls every other day.

there will be a little bit of a learning curve but once he gets it, i think it will make his remote using experience much better.
