I'm starting the cooking now. Slow-roasted bulk beef (bigger than an alternator) It's gonna take forever at 200 degrees. Plus, about 10 pounds of ham after it's sliced - I'll do that in the morning. Beef on weck for dinner tomorrow - roast beef sliced paper thin (medium rare), soaking in au jus, piled high on a kimmelweck roll. We do all the food buffet style, rather than a formal sit down dinner.

Plus, I have 2 apple pies, 2 more pumpkin pies, and a cake to go. 5 pounds of cheese and a couple sticks of pepperoni to slice up. Veggie platters are done. And the pickles/olives/that sort of crap platters I'll do in the morning.

What's everyone else having? Who does a formal sit down dinner vs. buffet style?

It'll be ham and stuff. Right now the wife is in improvisation overdrive. Our oven just broke and I can't get the part until after Christmas. Control board is overheating. She can bake/roast if there is a fan pointed at the front of the oven and you don't do any opening and closing (no cookies :( ). She said she will NOT be cooking tomorrow with a fan pointed on her. So, she can bake/roast today and reheat with what we have or do some McGyvering tomorrow: stove top + stand alone roaster + toaster oven + electric griddle + electric wok + slow cooker + gas bbq (I already shoveled a path in the snow).

I bet we come out unscathed.

Wow, that sucks about the oven... looks like you're gonna have it covered, though.

Usually we do a ham, but it looks like we're switching it up this year. I just went and picked up the 9 lb (for 5 people) beef roast, looks delicious. Also a sweet potato casserole thing, cranberry/raspberry/pretzel casserole thing, and I have no idea what else. That's all that really matters to me. There's probably a chocolate bourbon pecan pie in hiding. We sit down formal style.

Eggs Benedict for brunch tomorrow morning, out for the traditional Chinese dinner tonight.

We usually do a prime rib for X-mas dinner. This year, we're having smoked pig butt (ham) with scalloped potatoes and some other goodies.

My neighbors just brought over a plate of tamales and some of her nuclear hot sauce. (they're Mexican) We've been in this house almost 12 years, and these are the best neighbors we've had there yet. We swapped fruits and vegetables all summer, (he works the fields) and we've swapped foodstuffs ever since they moved in. GOOD people...
So...with the tamales, my wife is going to make a batch of her chicken enchilada to go with them...and we're having Mexican tonight. (YAY!)

A nice, fat ham (30+ lbs), German potato salad, 2lbs of smoked kielbasa, plus some other stuff. Gotta love the local farmer's market... all kinds of great, fresh meats for holidays (at good prices too).

Steak (New York Strip, grilled), Shrimp (some grilled, some scampi and some batter-fried), going to add some home made chicken tenders this year. Asparagus baked with olive oil and garlic with a little salt and pepper. Roasted potatoes and a Caesar salad.

After a long absence at my holiday meals, we're finally doing turkey again. With bread and Italian sausage stuffing. Not sure what we're doing for veg or desert.
