This year I decided I wanted something I haven't had in years:

A smoked Boston Butt. Tastes like a ham and is just as awesome.

I bought a 10lb one and simmered it with water, bay leaves and peppercorns for 2 1/2 hours and removed it when it hit 168F.

I made some carrots (cooked with the pork for about 1/2 hour) and some mashed potatoes.

This is a Christmas spent alone but this meal is making me smile.

:)

We did a food exchange with various family members.
Ham
Cheesy potatoes
Chip dip
Cracker dip
Corn casserole
Snicker doodle cookies
Peanut butter fudge
Sugar cookies
Christmas beer. Lots and lots of Christmas beer

And nary a fruit or real veggie in sight

Had turkey, meatballs, rice, tortiere, lasagna, macaroni salad, stuffing, fried rice and pretty sure I'm missing a lot of other stuff. Was a pretty good supper! Also lots of chocolates and mini brownies for desert, and before supper. And lots of wine. lol.

Also just realized we had no ham this time, we sometimes have that too. But what we had was more than enough haha.

On a more serious note, I overdid it this year. I had homemade manicotti (with homemade sauce) last night (grandma's recipe and family tradition) and ate way too freaking much. I was still full for breakfast, but I still ate a bowl of cereal. I have two trays of manicotti sitting in the fridge which I'll either freeze or make this weekend.

For lunch today, I made French toast. Mistake #2. Then I had some snacks, took a nap, and had some beef stew for dinner from Omaha Steaks that my mom sent. Pretty soon I'll have hot chocolate and some dessert. My body has been in constant pain since yesterday but I can't stop eating.

All y'all's food looks great.

Had since Greek Cypriot Tavas - lamb and onion 'stew' made in a clay pot with cumin, cinnamon, nutmeg. Plus Pastitsio, another Greek dish. Homemade cheesecake, Greek holiday cookies. Blessed to have good eats and spend time with my sister's family, who are in my bubble.

Spiral sliced brown sugar ham, homegrown green beans, smashed potatoes and fruit salad. Was very light compared to a similar meal we had last week where I made rolls and maybe 3 more side dishes.

Prime rib ( someone tried to ruin it by opening the oven but it salvaged nicely even if the cap was a little overdone)
Horseradish and au jus
Scratch mash with gravy
pan roasted Brussel sprouts with bacon
rolls
Of course all the condiments, olives eggs stuffed celery yadda yadda.
Tons of mimosas, beer and mikes.

The meal actually got pared down. We were supposed to have 8 and lost 2. Then my stepdaughter got invited to her mothers. MY sons fiancée lost her grandmother to covid on Christmas eve so she was in no mood for celebration ( although they did stop by for brunch and mimosas.) We ended up with myself, my wife and one of my daughters here.

We are going to be eating prime rib for a few days.

my hodgepodge dinner plate. Ribeye steak is buried somewhere in there. Celebrated fantastic evening with my sister's family and her in-laws.
