Christmas Card Pictures

I understand sending pictures of your kids... but today I got a picture of my friend, his wife, and their dog... 100% printed, no handwriting.

Do you think that's a little tacky or vain?

I think it's just the way many busy families are going about it now a days. Saves time.
And I like getting pictures of my cousins

I don't know why people send a picture of JUST the kids. Why not the whole family?

We don't do picture cards. My wife makes our Christmas cards by hand, which I think is a huge waste of time, but she probably feels the same way about Halo

i always thought it was vain to assume someone else would want to look at your pictures, unless its family, or maybe *very* close friends.

a woman i used to work with gave *everyone* at work (15 people) a picture of her kid around christmas

im pretty sure all but 2 or 3 copies of it ended up in the trashcan there. meh.

WHat's tacky about it? Lots of people send out pictures with their XMas cards or get the pictures as the cards from Walmart and places. Lots of times you don't see people very often and it's nice to see how people have changed.

We gets ours with the whole family. Past few years it was myself, wife, and daughter. Before that it was either just us and sometimes with our dog.

Because, their kids are always the best at everything and they want to show the world how awesome they really are.

Also, they've probably gained ~20 lbs.

I work in a photolab and this is by far the busiest time of the year! I could not imagine hand-writing a message on 300 or even 500 cards! Some families have ordered quantities of 800 before. I can only imagine the pain in my hand...

I don't think it's tacky. I think it looks nicer than someone's sloppy cursive, too. Sure, it's not as personal, but everyone is living a busier life.

I print mine, mainly because it's legible that way. I've included photos before, but only to the closest of friends, and never to anyone else.

I don't send cards anymore. It's a waste of time and money. I give the equivalent amount to Child's Play (see sig, cough PLUG) and email everyone to wish them happy Xmas and tell them what I bought. The first year I did it, quite a few said they liked the idea and would do something similar this year.
