MC Sports has this in their ad this week for $349, and I'm wondering if anyone has one and can give their opinion or review.

I need to get on some kind of weight program, I don't really like free weights. i'm 6'2 are their any height issues with this machine?

edit. Changed title, didnt' realize there was a Chuck N ban. wtf

No, but I'd hit it.... Chuck I mean... right in the throat! KEEEYAII!!!!

Honestly you're better off getting a gym membership or some free weights. If you ABSOLUTELY need a home system, look for a more conventional home setup like a Bowflex/Crossbow/some kind of universal machine (I don't vouch for Bowflex or Crossbow btw, never used either). I'd put Chuck's Total Gym in the same league as the Gazelle or whatever the fvck that sh1t is called... man and that guy pisses me off to no end.

BAN on those calling for BAN. If is room here for a stupid racist thread about Toyota entering NASCAR - there should be room for the Total Gym

What are your training goals? If you want to get big, for the love of god, do not buy one of these. Big strength/size comes from big resistance. A machine like the Total Gym only makes it easier to do basic exercises. If you just want something to do for 15min every morning so you don't get fat, I'm sure it'd work fine... of course you could just buy a jump rope or some running shoes instead.

I don't want to get big, I just want to get fit, have a little tone, and get rid of some fat.

I have the Total Gym 1000. I think it was the first model... not sure. I bought it secondhand off of Craigslist.

So far, I'm pleased with it. It's quiet so it isn't hard to listen to music or try and watch TV while using it. I feel like it does a good job on the workout though I haven't had it long enough to see major differences, yet.

I decided to buy mine after my doctor had me try his. His was a newer model, but I find I can do almost everything he can on the older model.

Biggest contributing factor to your BF% is going to be your diet. IMHO, proper diet + cardio + basic exercises like push-ups will probably get you to the goal you're looking for.

So for starters, cut out starches like potatoes (red are okay), white rice and white pasta. Watch out for trans fats. Eat more protein, fruits and vegetables.

Do cardio. Bike, jog/run, swim, whatever at least 30min a session (no breaks) at least 3 times a week. Your body burns the most fat when operating at about 60-70% VO2Max (intensity level) after about 20min.

As long as you're not significantly over weight, don't cut your daily calories too much or your body will go into starvation mode. A healthy calorie intake level will help keep your metabolism up.

Thanks AbAbber2k

I'm not too far gone, 6'2 and about 220. I was 190 about 14 months ago, and basically, let myself go.

Since Mid December I've started using the exercise bike 20+ minutes 4 or 5 times a week, and tried to cut back on eating. I've noticed my legs get a bit firmer, but the weight hasn't gone down. And my gut is a big as ever.

When you drastically change your calorie intake your body takes notice. If it's a drop your body will conserve/store energy. Eating healthier and increasing your activity level is always better than just dieting/cutting calories. And remember 30+ minutes or more. At the 20 minute mark your body has JUST entered it's optimal area for lipid fuel sorce utilization (fat burning).
