Yeah, it's not a big deal as Jersey politics goes, but Christie's main attraction was not being a partisan politician. People on both sides of the aisle respect him for that. No matter how this turns out, that reputation is tarnished, perhaps irredeemably so. Being willing to inconvenience so many uninvolved people for so petty a reason (or alternately, maintaining an administration where underlings feel safe in doing so) is arguably worse than partisan, which at least in theory is based on principle.Stinks to high heaven.
But I suppose thatz Jersey politics.
Especially with this governor.

I used to be a project engineer for a major wrecker manufacturer and the then-owner told me something profound. He said if operators break a boom and do fifty grand in damage they aren't all that perturbed - they may even be somewhat proud. But if the tool box lights don't work, they'll say "This thing is a piece of shit". Christie's boom may still be functional, but his tool box lights are out.
