CAIRO – Thousands of Christians and Muslims clashed Tuesday, with one Christian man killed and scores wounded as anger rose over the burning of a church in a Cairo suburb.
It was the second burst of sectarian fighting in as many days and the latest in a string of violent protests over a variety of topics as simmering unrest continues nearly a month after mass protests led to the ouster of President Hosni Mubarak.
The violence erupted after Coptic Christians held protests in several locations in Cairo against perceived persecution by the country's Muslim majority.
The Christians have been angered by last week's burning by a Muslim mob of a church in a Cairo suburb.

Those Egyptians sure seem to understand democracy. If it they aren't assaulting western reporters, harassing just about every woman in the country, it's attacking minorities. Can't possibly be related to Islam though, right? Just isolated incidents...

The OP seems heavily biased. I just want to add that according to your article, Christians were involved in civil unrest as well.

"About 2,000 of them cut off a main road running on the eastern side of the city and pelted motorists with rocks. Another crowd of about 1,000 protested outside the TV building in downtown Cairo."

Let's focus on how to fix this scenario, not aggravate a blame game. If both sides have to resort to violence and you resort to disclosure bias in order to get your message across, then shame on us all.

By bias do you mean I disagree with you? Then sure I disagree with you.

No shit that the Christians were involved. The title states that explicitly. They took to the streets after their church was burned down. I'm not a christian but it's a bit much to suggest the Christians here were as much to blame as the Muslim majority.

The point being, there were Christian on Muslim violence before Mubarak fell, and there is renewed same tensions after Mubarak fell.

But its somewhat difficult to get hyper outraged when only one person died in the violence.

In a better world, there would be no such Egyptian violence or Christian on Muslim tensions. Sadly its far worse in Iraq where Christians are becoming an endangered species.

IMHO, religious hatreds stink, all over the entire world. By in large, its what I like in the USA, as separation of church and State has turned Religious differences from a liability into an asset.

My position is that you continue to have a hard on for any and all things moooslim/Islam and that you are rightfully marginalized and ignored. But, I do admit to occasionally rubbernecking at the scene of the car wreck and do view an occasional post just to see if all systems are still fail. Carry on with your fear and hatred.

Taking a position on an actual political and news issue, not a poster-issue, is what I was talking about. Yeah I post about Islam. I'm sorry that's a problem for you. You could of course challenge my positions on Islam but if you want to troll that's your right on these forums.

So basically nothing has changed in that department. And it's actually worse than that. It shows that anti-minority, anti-women behavior in these societies can't be blamed on the dictators or western intervention.

These are the same people who when Islam takes over the United States are going to denying that they ever said -- Islam is the religion of peace!!

With Islam there is no getting along!!

Your warnings and insight is very much appreciated!!!

People do not need Islam to assault minorities. Do you have some other assertion?

I kinda wonder how this even made the news.

Well frequently media outlets will title their stories so that if it doesn't interest you, you can not read about it... The fact that you posted here anyway suggests that you did think it was newsworthy and that you're hung up on something else (probably because you're dumb).

Did I say Islam is necessary for people to assault minorities? No. (I suggest you not try to jump into the middle of my discussion with umbrella unless you know the whole context.)

LOL how could they understand democracy let alone run it? All muslims are superstitious and have barbaric beliefs.

I'm sure some idiot atheist leftists will be coming along and scream bigot and try to say "all religions are equally absurd and vile", just to try and blame this on Christianity.

But let's just assume for the sake of argument this is really the fault of the Christians. It's still a different order of magnitude and nature than the worldwide Muslim violence.

More proof that some people just can't handle democracy. We'll just have to intervene and support the rise of the next dictator. Hmmmm, maybe we should do the same here...

Shouldn't you be saying:

"A religion of peace, Islam is," or "very much appreciated, your insight is."

Profile much? Sheesh can I say all christains are idiots now? It actually felt kinda nice ... I was keeping it bottled up for a long time! hahaha Tho, I obviously know they are NOT all stupid. Just the majority! :p

Hahaha No one religion is better than any other. Go spread your mind virus elsewhere. No one is blaming it on anyone but religion itself. I know I'm just responding to a troll that I'd never ever change his/her mind about anything but... It's fun non the less.

Who cares who's fault it is, you'd never know even if they told you. Violence is Violence no matter what way you spin it. Ignorance is bliss!

Yes, we all know how hospitable the European Christians have been towards Middle Eastern Muslims over the ages.

Don't forget 9/11!!! Forget any and all history prior to this date.

Are you being serious?

It's like someone says that the Pirates are a bad baseball team. Then you come in and say that they beat the Yankees in the world series in the 60s so they're not that bad. It's irrelevant.

We don't live in the middle ages anymore.
