The comment section is toxic. That's to be expected. lol

The problem I have with the after life, and the bible is it doesn't make much sense. So, if I ascend to heaven does that mean I'm conscious. If heaven is blissful like the bible says, then that means I have sight. It means that I can probably smell, taste, and touch. So, do all of my shortcommings ascend to heaven with me. Fear, anxiety, etc. Will I get hungry on my way to heaven? What about desires? Will I want to drive a lambo while in heaven? And, what about dating? Does that happen in heaven? Will I see my parents? My relatives from 500 years ago?

My guess is what happens is when you die there is nothing. Not even darkness, because that is a sensation. Do you remember 100 years ago? Of course not. It doesn't even register. So, the same will happen when you die. Nothing. Think about it. 1) Our thoughts are someone elses thoughts. The school. Your parents. Society at large. That's social conditioning. 2) You are driven by biological needs. Sex, hunger, shelter, using the bathroom, etc. 3) Ego gratification. Wanting to feel important, and in some cases superior to others. That's about it.

There are over 4200 religions today. What makes Christanity the 1-true religion? Also, why is God depicted as a white old man? Why can't he be a Chinese guy in a wheelchair? Or maybe an African? Or maybe Thai?

Ya think? If you pick any single book of the bible, and assume it's the absolute infallible truth, it'll be contradicted somewhere else, in the same fucking compendium. I'd expect an omnipotent being could keep his attention focused, and his story straight. I expect that kind of shit from Trump, but not some capital G god.

I think it's more likely it's all a bunch of nonsense concocted by ignorant goat herders, and grabbed on to by governments as a means of population control. It sure made vikings more manageable, when their deaths weren't preordained, and glory wasn't the highest attribute anymore.

full disclosure

I didn't watch the video

Someone used a popular myth foundation already around for a ~1000 years to explain an illegitimate birth possibly caused by a Roman occupier. Let's say there actually is proof of the exisitance of the guy they called jesus (there isn't) - can't say I blame his mom if the alternative was expulsion from community or death by rocks.

Waaaaa waaaaaa sorry folks

But hey, believe in whatever you want if it promotes proactive social behavior and makes you feel content and validated. As long as you don't try to force it on others, or imbue our government with it's authoritarian dogma, we got no problem.

Religion has historically been used as a means of destruction - and ultimately a way of controlling the masses. Hell, I wonder how far back in history the concept of sexually exploiting people via religion goes?

It's also no wonder that the most heavily religious countries are also the ones with the lowest IQ, highest violence, and most oppressive. Whudda thunk it?

At least with the United States I can look at some work colleagues/friends that claim to be "religious" and go to Church every week - but the reality is that their church is just more of a social gathering. They love to lie to themselves and say they actually practice the religion, but anyone with half a brain knows they don't. Hell, I'd place a bet that If I searched their homes I wouldn't even find a bible -and if I did it would be on a shelf with tons of dust on it from never touching it.
