In case you haven't noticed, public schools also fire teachers for doing things that are perfectly legal (making adult movies, drinking alcohol etc). If there are certain standards of behavior that are part of the job requirement, then you can either adhere to them, or choose a different job. The fact that it's a private religious school makes it an even more open and shut case: they have a right to require that the person who teaches at the religious institution embodies the values they're teaching.
