Christian school complains 8 year old isn't feminine enough

shrug. it's not the schools position to say how the child should look. she identifies as female but enjoys doing male things. who really gives a shit if she wears a t-shirt and has short hair?

though it is a private school. i just feel they are wrong.

Elementary principal Becky Bowman sent home a letter last month, reminding Thompson of the school's religious affiliation and its policy of refusing students who contradict a "biblical lifestyle."

You mean, like picking on child that did this;
"She had hair down to her waist and she wanted to give it to a child with cancer,"

Not very Christian of alluding to a child's gender,.. especially when her heart is clearly in the right place.

Also, Jesus had long hair, like a woman.

What I don't understand is that they complain about what she wears but they have a school uniform?

photo caption:
Her Christian school sent a letter home to her family saying that "her dress and behavior need to follow suit with her God-ordained identity.

near end of article:
She said the only disciplinary issue that Sunnie might have caused was that she wanted to wear boy's pants as part of her school uniform.

They are concerned about her becoming a lesbian without actually stating that they are concerned about her becoming a lesbian. That is what is going on here.

Can someone find me scripture that relates to this?

maybe its in Leviticus next to where women have to sit in a shed while on their period and any man or thing that touches her has to be doused in bleach or is it next to eating shrimp is an abomination before God and you will be stoned to death?

People who subscribe to a black and white model of the world freak out at a slight shade of grey.
News at 11.

The letter that was sent to Sunnie's grandmother by the school principal was probably not approved by and given the "blessing" of the school administrator. His comment that he was "disappointed that the family took the issue public" is best translated as "don't shine a light on our bigoted and extremely narrow view of femininity"

It's true that a private school can set it's own rules but they still should suffer the consequences of both their religiously driven views and comments.

http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Dt++22:5

But then: http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Galatians+3:28

Deuteronomy is more directly related, but you have to consider:
1. Society defines male and female clothing much differently now.
2. It's the Old Testament. What still applies and what doesn't is a pretty big debate.

Galatians doesn't directly apply, but I could see it being used to argue for gender neutrality in clothing and activities.

Family sends girl to a private "christian" school looking like a butch lesbian and then are surprised when school doesn't like it. Who would have guessed? 🙄

Pretty soon the news will be covering stories about a black family getting upset because they sent their son to a KKK meeting and they made fun of him...

I don't see the problem here. You're telling they didn't know that a Catholic school would have strict dress and conduct rules?

Hopefully the girl is a lesbian though. If she continues to look and dress like that in her teens she's going to attract more girls than boys.

NEVER underestimate the total stupidity of those that believe in the bull shit they find in the buy bull.
