The band Pillar

Some good songs:

Extreme Days
Behind Closed Doors
Echelon
Fireproof

I don't have a clue how old they are, but I just found them and had to share :)

When I read this thread I couldn't help think about the Simpsons episode where Ned Flanders confuses "Chris Rock in Concert" with a Christian Rock concert, and purchases two tickets for himself and Maude.

Try Violet burning or Mae or East West for good christian bands. You won't regret it!

Yay for gross generalizations.
Do you also believe that all Metal bands are devil worshipers? And are all boy pop bands gay? (well, ok, maybe that one is true ;) )

You may miss out on some music you would have really liked if you are going to pass up entire genres because of your pre-conceived notions.

You're wasting your time, Dagta. Xionide has a pathological hatred of anything connected to religion.

How good can it be to people who don't want to hear that message?

Edit: and comparing it to metal with "Do you also believe that all Metal bands are devil worshipers?" is a flawed analogy; all christian rock groups are christian rock groups. A better analogy would be likening it to all satanic metal groups being satanic - and you'd be right (although it could be further argued that most are just punks trying to look cool by rebelling against the norm, which is christianity for many bible-belt dwellers)

Pillar - Extreme days (with Toby Mac)

Comin' at ya like a whirlwind
A hundred miles an hour's where we'll begin
I spy the eye of apprehension
Show me risk and you'll get my attention
Come on, can you take it
Bang to the bip; I make ya wanna flip
Take my trip and you can bust your lip
I never fear 'cause I live fearless
Don't even think for a second you can get with this
Come on, I never fake it, come on
These are extreme, extreme days
We're livin' in extreme days
These are extreme, extreme days
We're livin' in extreme days
I'm a freak from the burbs of the chocolate city
Luther Jackson was my middle
Pine Ridge my elementary
School of hip hop 1979
And Sugar Hill had the skills that taught me to rhyme
Got hip to Kiss and I tripped on Zeppelin
So Mr. Therapist-Why did I go this direction
God had a plan to end all my schemes
I had a dream He said to be...extreme
Come on, I never fake it, come on
These are extreme, extreme days
We're livin' in extreme days
These are extreme, extreme days
We're livin' in extreme days
Just the other day I saw a kid
Who flipped his hat to the back and he called it a lid
You know what else he did?
He stacked books from the floor to ceiling
Said somethin' bout trying to get to heaven
He was only eleven
But he climbed to the top with outstretched arms
And he screamed at the top of his lungs
Move out of my way
Give up the mic
X to me is extremely Christ
Livin up in me
Like it or not
Put an X on my chest
Cuz X marks the spot

Lately Christian rock has been getting a lot better, it's not Amy Grant or Jars of Clay anymore. The Tooth & Nail label has been puting out some really good stuff. Bands like Anberlin, Mae, Sleeping at Last and Norma Jean are on the cutting edge musically, with lyrics that aren't overly religious either.

Good music is good music. I enjoy plenty of music that carries a message that carries a message that I don't agree with, be it political, religious or otherwise.

I won't let that stop me from enjoying music if I think it sounds good.

I listen to a lot of Christian bands, and I'm nowhere near religious at all. But I've found that the non-mainstream Christian bands are actually pretty good! Like anything on SolidState records is usually worth listening to if you like heavier stuff. Some of the bands I like are:

Zao
Extol
Embodyment
Tourniquet
Spitfire

You have a point I guess, I like RATM but don't share their extreme political views... Still though, I doubt I could get into christian rock. Would only take one verse to have me gagging.

Edit: Upon further reflection, I think it's because religion is something I feel strongly about, while I'm somewhat indifferent where politics are concerned.
