You plainly said you do care. Like the ass you are, you think that only Christians deserve gifts on Christmas even though the gift-giving tradition has no religious significance whatsoever. You'll buy into the corporate co-opting of a holiday stolen from the Pagans, but only for your religious buddies? Way to honor the spirit of Christ on his "birthday".

He's pretty much fucked up in the head.

Hang on and he'll make bets that he later cannot cover too.

It's a jolly good time. :D

I don't care about gifts, and I won't even get a single gift this year. I don't even see what giving gifts to each other have to do with honoring the birth of Yahshua Ben Yosef. When I said I don't care. I was speaking in terms the important of Christmas to me in relation to what other people do. The importance of the day for me will never change. And the holiday wasn't stolen, because after Christmas was adopted by religious people. Saturnalia was still being celebrated. And I'm sure somewhere in the world it's still celebrated today. Christmas was a totally separate thing from Saturnalia. And both would have continued to co-exist too if people wanted to set aside the 25th to have drunken orgies and molest little boys.

I can't think of many things that haven't started out as one thing and slowly progressed into something else. I'm sure in 500 years Christmas will be totally different than it is today.

Christmas is different and it's no longer religious; you just won't accept it because you see a higher head count in church. You think people go to church on Christmas because they share your religious beliefs? If they did, they'd go more often than once or twice a year. No, it's just a tradition. Even a lot of atheists attend to be with family.

You made it a point to exclude your atheist coworker when asked about gifts. You've already betrayed your feelings. If you truly didn't care about the non-religious traditions that have grown around Christmas, you wouldn't have a problem with atheists exchanging gifts on the 25th and wouldn't make snarky comments about your peers.

I don't see any problem with atheists exchanging gifts on this holiday, nor with Christian bathroom music on principle.

Reminds me of an awesome song by Drkstr (Rico, owner of Darkestral Record label in UK) called Saturnalia... never came out as far as I know but I want it so bad..

I'm not sure where some of you are getting that I feel my constitutional freedoms are being infringed upon, that I plan to sue, or that I plan to do anything about this.

The music is annoying. Not being a Christian I'd really rather listen to something else but it's not important enough to mention.

My only point is that if I were a business owner I would not want employees playing religiously themed music using company property (such as bathroom speakers) since that would give the appearance that the company itself is Christian. Employees can quietly listen to whatever music they want using their own music systems, just don't use company speakers to make everyone else listen to it, too.

Jingle bells swing and jingle bells ring

I really have nothing to contribute to this thread. I just thought I'd put that song into your heads as you get ready to sleep.

Officially? According to whom? And why should I respect this officiator?

According to everyone dipshit, weather or not they care is a different story. But ask anyone why we celebrate Christmas and they'll say "it's the day Jesus was born" Everyone knows this, well, there might be some people don't don't actually know this. But those people probably also don't know how to die their shoes and can't wipe their own ass after taking a shit. I would say the fact everyone knows this makes it offical. You don't have to respect shit, if you want to get gifts and not acknowledge why the days exists that's totally up to you.

Everybody knows the the day PURPORTS to be. I don't know too many people who go to church though. The ones I do know that go to church, I bet no more than 20% are actually into it. The rest go because that's what they've always done, and they're used to the routine.

Btw, Christmas predates the Roman's existence. People have been doing this crap for a very long time ;^)

Not that I consider this a big deal, but it's rather annoying. I work for a financial company and there is always contemporary Christian music playing in the bathroom. I would think from a liability standpoint a company would want to avoid promoting any religion since matters of race, religion, age, etc. are so sensitive and make people sue-happy.

Anyone else have this or other religious promotions at work?

I don't understand why people would complain about listening to creed

What's the big deal? You are there to pay tribute to the porcelain god. A little inter-faith music is only going to help.
