What's even funnier is "Christian Black Metal", don't know is it on winamp's list, but those bands do exist.

I'm a big christian music fan. I own several cd's of the types of music you mentioned. And actually, it's great stuff! I guarantee that I could swap out some of today's Christian music with most secular music and you wouldn't notice. Unless you paid close attention to the lyrics. Many times I have been riding with friends and I'll throw in a christian disc. They'll be bobbing along, loving what they're hearing. And they have no idea. They just figure it's some new group that I've stumbled onto.
Music can be good without the swearing and violence. Just open your mind and check it out.

If anyone cares, here's some groups I recommened:
Rap - John Reuben, Cross Movement, DJ Maj, Tunnel Rats, Dert, T-Bone
Hard Rock/Metal - Spoken, Living Sacrficie, Thousand Foot Krutch, EDL, Justifide, ESO, East West....and oh yeah, P.O.D.

DC Talk used to be rap before they realized there was more money in rock.
Then they realized there was more money in selling 3x as many albums.
So now they do their "solo" thing.

I have heard 2 bands--Killed By Cain and Circle of Dust that are both Christian death-metal. It sounded like all the other death metal--loud overdrive guitars and lots of screaming.

Throw Ya Bibles
by: Ned Flanders and the christian homeys

Intro:

Take em out, take em out, bring em out dead
Shine em up, shine em up, shine the bald head
One bible, two bible, three bible, four
You're, mine, it's all about God
Jesus! (echoes)

Verse One: Suave

It's time to get live, live, live like a wire
I set a whole choir on fire (UHH!)
Well done, on the grill, commitin crime kills
and no frills - they try to diss God? They gettin crispy
Ha, ha hah hah, AND WE DO IT LIKE THIS
In fact, ?? ?? and jack Jack's
Cause they can burn in hell non-believers for all that I care
Beware the almighty God the dread said is they fear
Stick-up parishioners, traction new reaction
These friggin christians shoulda made the All Madden
God is wreckin $hit, slip slide step quick
?? ?? Infinite that gets crashed like a rented
The gospel they write is black and white; well mines got mad skillz
Ain't that right, my blood brother?
Word up, raise it up!
We do it with the crew that don't give a care

So throw ya biblez in the air, throw ya biblez in the air
Buck buck like you don't care

I have hundreds of Christian Rock CDs of every genre. I've been collecting since the early 1980s.

Circle of Dust (aka Angel Dust, Klay Scott) is industrial, not death metal. Mortification is death metal.

I'm surprised someone else here has heard of East West. They're kinda sorta like P.O.D., only not famous and not as polished (in a good way).

T-bone is definitely the premiere Christian "Gangsta" Rap artist. He was featured on MTV's version of Star Search (can't remember the name of that show where it's like a talent contest). He's been around for quite a while. Rap isn't my genre, but I know there is a ton of Christian rap out there. The biggest Christian Rap label is called Grapetree.

If you're interested in Christian Rock, check out blastbeats for the extreme styles and TrueTunes for more moderate genres. Also, don't forget rec.music.christian.

Probably more than you know ;)

Kekal is a Christian black metal band out of Indonesia, which is phenomenal because that is a Muslim country. You can check them out at blastbeats, which I linked to in my post above.

Not everyone can be amusing all the time. Sorry if I crapped in your cornflakes.

Alright, I'm sorry. The more I think about Snoop Goddy Godd the funnier it gets. Forgive me?

The worst thing about Christian rock music are the bands that come just to be the Christian version of [insert popular radio band here]. But there are a lot of wannabes in music, in general. The trick is to find the bands that you're still going to enjoy 10 years from now.

Bring back Stryper!!!!

But seriously, the quintessential Christian band that will never go away: DC Talk. Sure there early stuff is cheezy. But there last album was great and there solo projects are all fantastic!

MC Hammer... "We got to pray just to make it today" mixed with the recent MC Hammer trying to make a come back?

brnbngls, how did you stumble across Thousand foot Krutch? They're just a little Candian band. :) But they are great. Puppet, when in doubt, lift it... all great songs.

Hey Ken. Down here in Columbus, they're a Radio U staple. Radio U is the local contemporary Christian station. I've gotten to see them live twice. They kick my freakin' butt.

creed has never been christian. the lead singer isnt a christian, but many people think his lyrics are along the same lines. dont know about michelle branch and godsmack.

as for rap, john reuben and dj maj are awesome. also check out LA symphony and dj form. these guys have more skills than most mainstream rappers. give em a shot and youll probably like em.
