Just saw this on the news.

I'm from SC and I'm conservative but this is a bit much. I've linked to their plan. Anyone think this will succeed? I guess it is really just another form of redistricting.

Does this belong in P&N?

That said, I don't think this will ever succeed.

Way to jump to conclusions and assume.

Read the site. Nobody's going there to convert everyone; they're moving to NC because "Our board of directors considers the values of this state to be very similar to the values held by our membership. Additionally, South Carolina possesses a rich history of standing up for her rights."

Read the goals section.

The only fundamentals here are people like you who think that just because the word "christian" is involved means that there's going to be a bunch of people running around through the streets with bibles in one hand and little wooden crosses in the other throwing holy water everywhere and exorcising everyone they can find. Calm down, take a deep breath, and tighten your grip on reality.

First it is SC.
Second the mere fact that they want a mass exodus of "Christians" from other states to SC in order to effect policy tends to make me think of them as fundies.

Are there people in SC with similar values? Sure. Hell, I'm one of them but this is no different if successful than selective redistricting.

Something tells me that, in reality, they only have a couple of hundred members at most.

A Colony/State just for Fundies? Kind of like the MASS Bay Colony. I can see it now, Stockades for those who don't attend church and scarlet letters of A sewn on the dresses of female adulterers.

I'm just picturing a huge group following some guy with a beard wearing robes and carrying a staff, then parting rivers and lakes along the way. heheheh....

From their Mission Statement:

ChristianExodus.org will continue to move Christians into South Carolina until we possess a representative majority in both houses of the General Assembly.

This is not just happening in South Carolina. This has been part of the Relgious/Republican agenda since 1998 and it has worked flawlessly.

The U.S. is now a Theocratic State just like the Countries we invade because we didn't like their Theocratic Governments.

Enjoy.

This is nothing new... IIRC America First tried to do this with the Pacifc Northwest during the 80's and 90's... it never works though.

I'm a Christian, and this is crazy. It won't work. Their attempt at a religious community will fail, just like millions before them...

I see nothing wrong with people trying to stand up for what they believe in, just because they are Christians means that they are physco? What if it were Muslims or any other religion?

No, it's because they're trying to force their values on everyone else. There is something wrong with that. Personally, I'd tell them to stuff it which is pretty much what I tell the religious whacks when they come knocking on my door.

And of those few hundred that "sure, I'm with you on this!" they will be lucky to get a few dozen to actually uproot, sell their homes, and move their families away to SC.

Religious zealots like this talk big but most of the time lack action.

Yet it's alright for other people to try to force their life style on them? I don't see how people knocking on your door asking if they can talk to you is forcing anything on you. Forcing means that they are giving you no other option but to listen to them by force.

I think Nik's original punctuation might have mislead you, so let me reiterate that for you, WHO CARES?!

Controlling government is forcing their values on you.

Knocking on my door is not and my telling them to stuff it is entirely within my rights.

Yeah, I remember that. What ever happened to them? I was looking forward to buying pot at the local carry out ;)
