How about the consumate weird evil guy, Christopher Walken?
Walken was already in batman returns

Why are they doing scarecrow? Who the hell is scarecrow? Why don't they just start from scratch and do joker again, like the previous 4 movies never happened?

Scarecrow would be a cool bad guy if they get the right person (Christopher Walken or Willem Dafoe would be cool). As for the Joker, no one could ever play him as well as Jack Nicholson did. He was absofreakinglutely perfect for the role.

Of all the candidates on the short list, I think he was the best option by far. With Nolan at the helm, hopefully this will mean a return to Batman as the Dark Knight. 🙂

director Christopher Nolan has taken over the series, with the film based on another script, titled Batman: The Frightening, which features The Scarecrow as the lead baddie. [/i]

Thats cool I always thought the Scarecrow would make an awesome movie bad guy. Especially with a Tim Burton style of filming.

Crispin Glover would make a perfect Scarecrow.

Actually, Willem Dafoe would be better. 🙂

Willem Dafoe would be perfect! He's got the perfect psycho mad scientist look. But I doubt he'd want to be another super villain after doing the green goblin in spiderman. What a shame.

fvck, fvck, fvck!!!!!

That is the last time I have a chat with David Goyer about wanting to sell the idea of Scarecrow to the franchise. I mean, come on, Batman filled with fear, and waking nitemares! This would be great to finally make Batman into a real gritty movie. I would have liked to that director of Dark City to direct, but hey, I am not the money man. Now - before you all laugh, just think about it. For Scarecrow, I would like to see this man play him.

For those that don't know, here is Scarecrow's bio. Basically, the movie could use CGI for Scarecrow facial features (imagine a burlap face pulling into a horrible grimace in front of you. yikes!) As for people trying to get over the Kramer image, there could be some scenes where the sick, demented side of Crane comes out and I know Richards has that in him. Other than that, his physical features cast him correctly too.

BTW - I never really spoke with Goyer. I had to create a film treatment as a class project. I choose Batman vs The Scarecrow. And mine doesn't have batgirl, batboy (robin) or all that stupid crap that Schumacher put in.

From IMDB:
Holy Bale, Batman! Variety reports that Christian Bale, star of American Psycho and Laurel Canyon, has been tapped to play Batman in Christopher Nolan's reworking of the Caped Crusader saga, set for a 2005 release; the official announcement came Wednesday afternoon from Warner Bros. Bale bested a slew of hot young actors for the part, most notably Jake Gyllenhaal, Joshua Jackson, Cillian Murphy, and Eion Bailey, all of whom also tested for the role of the comic book hero. Nolan, best known for the indie thriller Memento, is slated to direct the film (currently known as Batman 5) early next year from a script by David Goyer, writer of the Blade films.

David Goyer is not the best writer.

I don't like Bale...nough said.

Also, i don't think Warner Brothers is going to allow this movie to be dark, due to their target audience being teenagers.

I can see him as Bruce Wayne...but I just can't see him as Batman. but Christian Bale is a hottie..i've thought so ever since I saw Little Women.
