These people are human. Humans are easy to upset when worn down, stressed, and tired, all the while having to ACT like they aren't because there are demands from others to get things done, which in terms of film, means perfect acting as per the director and others. Demanding, exhausting, and stressful.

I haven't listened to the clip (have read some things on it), but I don't care what is said in it. I can almost guarantee in a similar situation I'd probably flip too. In fact I have.

If I recall he said that it was the second time it happened. For him to go on that kind of tirade I would not call "professional". It's akin to a baby throwing a tantrum.

Sure they are paid millions. Because they do something that 0.0001% of the population can do. Any old idiot can work long hours doing manual labor. Very few can be the lead actor in a $1 billion grossing movie.

Having superior skills should not give someone license to be a douche. Bale is a good actor and he is to be and has been commended for his skills. But few things excuse the way he acted in that clip, as someone said above this is the kind of behaviour one might expect to see from someone stressed from the death of a loved one. I'm not usually one to call people elitists as usually those who wave that banner are right wing wackos but this kind of behaviour is one area in which I don't mind using the term at all.

Verbal tirades from successful high level crew (directors/producers/etc) and actors isn't at all uncommon in the industry. What is on the clip is fairly tame in comparison to some of the shit that goes down on sets or in studio offices.

These people (for the most part) really do live in their own world, one what we would hardly recognize. Pretty much nobody in the industry is willing to tell these people "no" in any circumstance due to the $ factor. That kind of empowerment leads to stuff like the clip being considered common and generally acceptable.

Saying he's tired and stressed, and because he's unique he should be forgiven blah blah is NOT an excuse. If I accidently deleted my boss' porn stash for example, would it be ok for him to yell at me about it just because he's worked for a week straight?

This isn't the damn middle ages where we have Lords yelling at us peasants and we have to bow our heads and accept this shit. That conduct is just not professional.

This is pretty much the truth (and well summed up mind you) from what I understand. Hence why the DP just sits there and takes it like a bitch for 4+mins. If he said or did anything otherwise, he'd never work in the town again.
