Eh I mean I could kind of understand it - if you're pulling an 18 hour day starting at 4am, because you only have the air force base for X hours and someone fucks up the millionth take of the same scene...

Plus I wanna say that your eyes instinctively scan stuff in your peripheral, so if there's some random crap moving in the background, you'll take a peek and the take is screwed.

The periphery of your field of vision is more sensitive to movement, yes.

I'm thinking it's just a matter of Bale likely being overworked, under-rested, and having dealt with a few other frustrating issues that day. Eventually, this was all he could take.

Not that it's an excuse to blow up like he did, but it might explain it.

You don't talk to another adult like that. Not for an honest mistake.

No job would be worth taking that. I would have knocked his ass out and promptly quit.

Interesting, I guess the fortune and fame has finally gotten to his head. I don't imagine he would act like this earlier in his career. That's not to say he's incapable, just that he'd be a bit more reserved and tolerant to others mistakes. Now that's he a big movie star, it really sucks to see he's turning out to be a douche. He's one of my favorites too so I hope there's a bigger underlying reason why he was so harsh on the guy or I'll have to change my perception of him.

Anything short of stress caused to him by discovering recent news of a family member contracting a life threatening disease there can be no forgiveness.

Well I hope that is the case, you know someone in his family contracting a life threatening disease. Hopefully its more that one member too.

what's sad is this probably happens about a thousand times more than we hear about.

You have never seen the variety of roles he has played, have you? Doing what he does to his body has got to be hard. :-/

Oh boo hoo.

Sure his job is stressful, long hours, long weeks, dealing with other egos, not getting things done the way you want to, having to redo the same work over and over and over, hard physical work. He makes millions of dollars per film doing this. He probably never has to worry about money for the rest of his life, probably lives in a mansion, can eat at the finest restaurants in town night after night.

Tell that to the guy making minimum wage down at the local warehouse who also works long hours, long weeks, deals with others egos, not getting things done the way he wants to, having to redo the same work over and over and over, hard physical work. And he goes home to a dump night after night and eats mac and cheese. You know what, a hell of a lot of these people are cheerier and nicer every day of the week (even on their worst days) than what you hear in that audio clip.

^^
What he said.

Bale has become a douche. Don't think this behavior won't have repercussions to his career down the line. Difficult actors are avoided like the plague.

What Hollywood giveth, Hollywood taketh.

Let see him talk like that to Bruce Willis, Jack Nicholson, or Clint Eastwood.

Well that sucks. It really bites to see people I admire act like that.
I came this close to punching Billy Crystal in the face once, but that's another story. :)

You mean Billy Crystal...that linebacker from high school who used to pull up your underwear over your head in front of the cheerleaders?.......

Same sentiment here.

I've been a huge fan and admirer of his work. Unfortunately as he's gotten older, he appears to have gotten pretty anti-social. He even says if you really knew him you wouldn't like him.

As much as I respect him an actor, especially after seeing The Machinist, I don't see him with much staying power especially with an attitude like this. He doesn't really have a brand.. his adult career started as almost literally a Tom Cruise alternate in American Psycho, then he started to make a name for himself and got the big blockbuster in Batman but he still seems very easily replaceable in anything he ever does. I mean I think of Tom Hanks in Saving Private Ryan and I can't imagine anyone but Hanks, with Bale's roles I feel like he is just a very good stand-in for that perfect actor that isn't there or might not exist in this era.

This makes me sad. Christian Bale was one of my favorite actors who always does quality acting in a lot of my favorite movies. Knowing he's a prick in RL makes me less of a fan.

I think he was just under a lot of stress. I'm sure everyone would seem like a douche if someone only recorded your worst anger out burst.
