That's not dishnets fault though, right?
I'm going to put up a bigass HDTV antenna and run dual lines at the momhouse.

Then, I'll have HDTV local for free and they can upgrade the satellite later.

well it kinda is.

with other providers they get them. the local cable company's all get them. direct tv seems to get them.

also other channels NONE local its the same problem. seems like they are blocking the HD feed unless its on one of the dedicated HD channels (wich most of them suck)

IIRC, you need to get a Dish Local HD package to get local in HD.

Actually I think I'm currently a cheap $5 antenna and it's working pretty well, at least better than the other amplified antenna's that I've bought.

I was pissed about this too. I'm probably going to get rid of my HD and just go back to SD satellite. Though ESPN and NFL Network HD will be nice when football season starts up again. I'm definitely keeping the DVR though, I don't know how I'd ever go back to not being able to rewind TV.

ahhh wrong.

i have Local channel package already and i called Dish. They said that the local channels are given to dish in HD so they do not air them in HD.

heh i have a 10 yr old (or so) $10 antenna. it brings in like 3 HD channels. only one clear. i get Fox but its not clear.

so now to find a decent antenna.

Select channels available in HD. Local channels (HD and SD) may vary by market.

OP looks to be SOL unless he goes with an antenna (not that bad, picture quality will be better) or complains loud enough to whoever is at fault for Dish not carrying those channels in HD.
