Chris Rock: Kill the Messenger

I was out of town this weekend and am just catching up with my Tivo'ed shows. I am watching the new Chris Rock HBO special, Kill the Messenger, and my God it's hilarious. They shot it in Johannesburg, London and NY, and edited it together to, I guess, capture the best moments from each performance. If anything it seems like the South African and English audiences are the best, but he is great in all three performances.

Bring the Pain is one of the best-ever standup specials, and this is of essentially the same caliber IMO. I didn't totally love the last Rock special, but this one is great. Highly recommended!

I thought it was definitely one of his weaker acts.

when are they replaying it? i saw a part of it and they were cutting it in and out so i thought it was just like a preview or something and changed the channel.

According to the HBO website, they are replaying it in late night several times in the next few weeks. I imagine it's also available on HBO On Demand.

I agree, it was like a watered down version of his older stuff, nothing different.

If you're comparing it to Bring the Pain, I agree it's probably not as good, but it's a lot better than Never Scared. He's still probably the best standup in the world.
