Chris Moneymaker

We were just talking about thost on Polerrooom.com. How did you know?

I was saying that he would have lost to Farha if they banned sunglasses and hats

good poker players dont need the sunglasses or hats,

when some one stares me down at the table i just make kissie faces at them which flusters them enough for me.

Did you see one of the early episodes, when someone raised Lederer, and then hid in his jacket as his soul was being looked into? That was funny as hell. He actually pulled his jacket up and zipped it around his head to keep from making eye contact.

Yeah..wasn't it that guy who went to college at 12, and got a law degree by 18?

No, it wasn't Dutch, it was some actor or ex-actor. Can't remember his name, but you'd think being a actor would help you in playing poker. Not for this guy it would seem.

farha had his sunglasses on a few times during that final few hands as well tho...

moneymaker got lucky in some of his hands before the final table. He took big gambles which he should've lost but won them on the river.

That was moneymakers first live tourny so cut him some slack on the glasses. As far as the hat is concerned, he HAD to wear it. Its a pokerstars hat (they sent him and a bunch of others to the tourny after they qualified) They have to wear the shirts and hats as part of the deal. I play on that site and if I win a satelite and get int the WS, Ill gladly wear that hat too. 😉

Moneymaker is a cooler guy to cheer for than that other guy from Minnesota (youngest champ). He is such an ass.

As for the glasses - "real champs don't need em." Really? That may be true, but why would you not use every tool you have to your advantage? Do you think you'd be the "better" winner if you won without glasses? I'll take my million any way it comes.

Real Talk

farha had his glasses on a few times during those final few hands (he says again). does that make him less of a second place finisher?

moneymaker is a decent amateur player at best, the amount of times he called hands in the WSoP that he should have lost but lucked out on the turn or the river was rediculous, he won a few hands he was only favored by like 7% to win.

All wrong. It was Phil Helmuth.

thats the nature of cards..why do you think the top guys dont continue to win? for a tourny of that size you need to get lucky as well as play smart. its like 5 days long and we only get to see the highlights.

it wasn't Hellmuth who hid in his jacket, it was some other guy. The name Kenna James comes to mind.

I'd like to see fumbduck qualify for the WSOP and win it. Decent amateur my ass. Yes he got lucky, but Poker is both skill and luck...

No, it wasn't Phil Helmuth that hid in the jacket. I don't remember who it was, but I know it wasn't that wussy crybaby phil. And it wasn't Dutch Boyd either.

So how come all the other good poker players and poker critics agree with me? Who would honestly put 500,000 in chips on the line on a 7% margin that you will win the hand? Chris Moneymaker, because he is stupid, but very lucky. He has only been playing the game for 3 years, compared to the skill level of those who have been in the series for the last 30? Yeah right.

Backoff Bucko.

I never said he played a flawless game, but a win is a win. He'll have plenty of time to hone his skills even further, but he beat out the best people in the world.

no, it wasn't, unless my memory is totally gone awry.. which is definitely a possibility since I am very sick right now.

It definitely wasn't Helmuth. It was some new guy that sat down at the big table, an actor or something.
