CNN
At convention, GOP leaders reflect U.S. diversity

http://www.cnn.com/2012/08/28/opinion/bennett-diverse-convention/index.html?hpt=hp_c1

Are these people just crazed and or just crazy.
Not to change the subject from weenie Priebus, but all this magically fits together somehow.

CNN reporting (cough cough) "diversity" at the GOP convention?
GIVE ME A F-in BREAK.

I dare not even read into the story behind headline because my head will probably explode.
So much total bull crappy.

What next? CNN claiming Mitt's dancing horse drops bars of gold out of its rear end??

The GOP convention can be summed up in only one way.
Thats a hell of a lot of lipstick on that pig

Hurricane? Im surprised God doesn't simply open up the earth under their feet and suck them all in.

Newt calls out Chris Matthews for his blatantly racist mentality. Matthews is a jerk and got totally owned imo.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=YAMLAiYLDS0

Matthews is a jerk, definitely, and also quite annoyingly loud.

Of course, he's also right about the political calculus major Republican candidates like Romney and Newt have done. They know that Americans view the terms "food stamps" and "welfare queen" overwhelmingly with blacks (there are voluminous polls on these terms). They know that white seniors must turn out in high numbers to win. Everyone on both sides acknowledge this reality. They know that, by the very nature of being old (let's say, 55+) they all quite starkly remember historically significant fights over integration in the 60's, and (here's the crux of the argument) it's coded aftermath going into the 70's, 80's and beyond. Therefore, the overtures to these old white voters using racially coded terms is a little too convenient. And, btw, you'd think that even if these particular Republicans weren't intending to stir old racial stereotypes, that they'd decide to err on the side of caution and try not to offend Americans.

As a near 30 year old I of course don't remember any of this history, but it's real and virtually no one denies it because it's very well documented in the history books.

Matthews got his ass handed to him. I love right at the end he says to Newt, "I know you think you are winning here"
Newt: why do you assume food stamps refer to black?
Matthews: Because of Reagan.

Awww, you're so cute sometimes, trying to have conversations with grown-ups about history. Coochy coochy coo!

So Republicans can't talk about food stamps because it's interpreted as racist "code" by pea-brained hacks...give me a fucking break.

No no, "pea-brained hacks" are the people who don't know the history of these terms and how they're used in elections. These half-wits don't understand what Matthews is saying, and spread FUD as a result. Despite his grating nature, his recitation of history is accurate, as in documented and not particularly challenged by anyone well informed, as the polling is irrefutable on these matters.

Just FYI, in case you were wondering.

You mean the same Newt who is so far out of touch, he tried to revive the Southern Strategy by using phrases like "Food stamp President?" That Newt, who's so blatantly racist he thought he could win South Carolina that way?
So, I guess that settles it then...Republicans can't talk about the dramatic increase in food stamp usage that occurred on Obama's watch. And, more importantly, certainly can't attribute any blame for this to Obama...that's just fucking racist.

You play right into the hand of what Newt is talking about. Any mention of food stamps by a Republican automatically brings Liberals crying racism. Now we have a black President so now any criticism of him on any issue can be a race card issue. You are taking it to a whole new level with your theoretical nonsense of how every senior has leftover racism from the victories blacks have made in the 60 and must get out and vote to stop the blacks. Good lord you are pathetic.

And here you are making excuses, using the textbook Rovian "Accuse anyone who points out racists of being racist themselves." Schoolyard "I know you are, but what am I?" logic.

Please link me to a post where Newt called Bush a food stamp president. Seeing the recession started under Bush and he lost more jobs than O'bama did.

But of course you won't be able to to.

I've actually never seen Preibus speak before, what a tepid, weak-ass defense. "Ho hum, poor me getting beat on, oh bother. Oh and also Obama's a secret foreigner sabateur. Now let's move on."

"On Obama's watch" lots of recession-related things happened - food stamps up, business loans up, paid for local government jobs via stimulus, unemployment insurance extended, debt increased, etc, etc, etc. Funny how he's the "food stamp president" and not the "unemployment insurance president." Surely a coincidence that has nothing to do with a demonization of mostly fictional 'welfare queens' for decades.

Did you even listen to what Brokaw said? If you'd pull your head out of your ... partisanship, you might have noticed Brokaw disagreed with Matthews about the "racist" comments. He also said quite emphatically that BOTH parties are out of control with dishonest attacks, and that Americans are fed up with it.

Brokaws words are what's wrong with the MSM. Their equivalence. What over the past 20 years have the democrats done that is equivalent to the Republicans? They impeached Bill Clinton and have just brought Holder up against contempt charges. For the last year they have mounted a sustained effort to change voting laws to fix a problem that doesn't exist. There is no equivalency. The Republican party is out of control and Brokaw is a vestige of what s wrong with the MSM and why the Republican party gets away with it.

Btw, did you notice Brokaw gave not 1 example of why the democratic does the same thing?

Btw, noone here has refuted anything that Chris went after Reince on. I've seen a lot of ad hominem attacks, but nothing to argue Chris was wrong.

Ask yourself these questions.

1.) What joke was Mitt trying to make. What was the punchline?
2.) What does Europe have to do with anything? Mitt's plan was a precursor for Romney Care. THe indvidual mandate was a Republican proposal. Why, keep bringing up Europe other than to foreignize someone. And if you are foreignizing someone aren't you engaged in race politics?

So...I guess it's OK to blame Obama for everything except food stamps since that particular subject offends your personal racial sensitivities...despite the majority of recipients being white. Got it.

BTW, besides Chris Matthews, who's currently playing up this "welfare queen" rhetoric?

That's a pretty low bar, but since it was said by a conservative I can understand your sliding scale.

http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/vile

Main Entry: vile

Part of Speech:

adjective

Definition:

offensive, horrible

Synonyms:

abandoned, abject, appalling, bad, base, coarse, contemptible, corrupt, debased, degenerate, depraved, despicable, dirty, disgraceful, disgusting, evil, filthy, foul, horrid, humiliating, ignoble, immoral, impure, iniquitous, loathsome, low, mean, miserable, nasty, nauseating, nefarious, noxious, perverted, repellent, repugnant, repulsive, revolting, shocking, sickening, sinful, sleazy*, stinking, ugly, vicious, vulgar, wicked, worthless, wretched

Are you saying that calling somebody vile is a weak case of demonization?

Main Entry:

diabolic

Part of Speech:

adjective

Definition:

evil, fiendish

Synonyms:

Mephistophelian, atrocious, cruel, damnable, demoniac, demonic , devilish, hellish, impious, infernal, monstrous, nasty, nefarious, satanic, serpentine, shocking, unhallowed, unpleasant, vicious, vile, villainous, wicked
-----------------

I see vile right there in the synonyms for demonic? I don't see how I could make a better case.

But the point I make is that because of the egotistical component of truthiness thinking and the high priority conservatives place on morality, they do not want to admit to demonizing others because they know it's immoral. Thus conservatives have all the advantages. They imagine themselves moral when they are not and crucify liberals as the ones who are immoral while functioning in a complete state of denial. It is this truth about conservatives that makes liberals like Mathews sick. Conservatives demonize liberals and when they are demonized for demonizing they have a fucking fit.

It has not always been true that conservatives are so insane. But we are all lost together as long as conservatives defend against the truth.

So can you see that you demonied Mathews by calling him vile?

I am a Conservative, I am not allowed to mention Food Staps without it being racist. That's a seprate debate anways.
