Chris Christie was not invited to speak at CPAC because he criticized House Speaker John Boehner and GOP caucus politics during the debate over bringing the Hurricane Sandy relief bill to the floor, the group’s head confirmed to POLITICO.

it's probably a good thing for Christie... anything he may have had to say at CPAC would have only hurt him in the NJ election this fall.

Wonder no more.

I sort'a look at that incident as a symptom of Christie's condition rather than the "disease" itself, as it were. His being independent minded does not fit in at all with the usual lockstep mindset of the conservative movement. If anything, that incident guaranteed his reelection in New Jersey and, if the political winds blow kindly for him leading up to the 2016 presidential, it would distinguish himself favorably from the other candidates, both Repub and Dem, with the thought in mind that the Repub leadership is painfully looking for a new mask to hide their same old aging face.

Those of us who watch Fox News and Billo in particular will know that Charles Krauthammer thinks not inviting Christie was a big mistake. He is the most popular governor in the country and in a state with a democratic majority. But the modern American Republican party is the party of leprosy. We will just have to wait for the disease to run its course.

Hilarious. One of the few people that can save their joke of a party, it's like the GOP is addicted to Fail.

Yep, that "re-branding" we heard about sure is panning out great so far...

I don't see him getting the nod in 2016, I've basically become a Republican party line voter in national elections due to the Democrats relentless attacks on the second amendment and the last thing I want is a Republican who is just as bad in that regard.

Did you see which wing of the court turned back the 4th amendment challenge on the eavesdropping law that the NSA uses to listen in on international communications? I guess it doesn't matter - as long as the guns are safe.

While I am opposed to eavesdropping on domestic communications it does seem like there would be less protection for international communication, not that them being monitored outside of special circumstances is a good thing.

Besides a few Supreme Court Justices who lean conservative upholding eavesdropping is very different from the nationwide effort by Democrats on both the state and national level to attack the second amendment.

Being a republican line voter is going to get you nothing but more totalitarian tip toe. Republicans are no more pro 2nd amendment than they are pro balanced budget.

This is good news for Christie. If he really wants to be president and the republicans don't back him then look for him to go independent and destroy any republican candidate in 2016 and then go on to lose to Clinton.

I mean having a Black dude in the WH sent the Republicans into a tailspin could you image what would happen with a woman in the Whitehouse? LMAO

I don't see what the big deal is, CPAC simply didn't have enough timeslots. They were already filled by such luminaries as Sarah Palin and Santorum (memo to self-google him again).

Charles Krauthammer right about something? Who'd a thunk it.

Show me a Republican Senator or Representative who is spearheading a gun ban.

Republicans want to "re-brand" the party, not change the content of the actual product.

That's your right, of course, but recognize that you are a big reason why America is going to hell. Party-line voting means the parties are free to run crooks and loons with virtually no accountability. Single-issue voters are almost as bad.

Heh, glad you saw my use of quotes there.
But I don't know for sure, they seem to be trying with immigration reform. It's kind of funny to have heard republicans lambaste the Democratic party for years over courting the Latino vote, throwing scorn and vitriol with gusto at their competition for being supported by those 'not really Americans,' or worse, actual illegals!

...and then they get their asses handed to them (again) in an election and suddenly it's "D'oh. Hey Latin voters, we were just kidding about all that stuff we said earlier, please please PLEASE vote for us!"

They voted against all that before they voted for it, or something...

See, Bill Clinton was wrong. While Republicans may fail at arithmetic when it comes to things like budgets and taxes, they can run the numbers just fine when it's their jobs on the line.

They were so opposed to McCain that many were prepared to vote for Hillary for the general election in 2008. Black man trumps all other consideration, they couldn't do that.

You definitely deserve a beer for honesty.

It's not everyday I hear someone admit to being a single issue voter.

Fuck no we don't want Christie as prez in 2016. We don't want a Republican willing to work with a Democrat under even the worst of circumstances.
