Chris Christie has become the most quotable New Jerseyan since Yogi Berra, and now the two former catchers have even more in common, because, like Yogi, the governor has us scratching our heads.
Wednesday, when Christie got into a hecklers face at a California rally for Republican gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman, he told the man: You want to yell, yell at me. Its people who yell and scream like you who are dividing this country. Were here to bring this country together.
Huh? Chris Christie, the Uniter? The bully who loves to demonize anyone who disagrees with him? The guy who says Democrats actually want to raise our taxes? The governor who treats teachers like piñatas?
Look, weve agreed with a lot of what Christie has done to try to fix the state, and sometimes weve applauded his well-timed crankiness. But nobody is holding hands and singing Kumbaya in the Statehouse. And nationally, Republicans have been hammering wedges into the electorate since President Obamas election.
So, as Yogi would say: Some of the fibs the governor tells arent true.
