Chracter Encoding Issue

I am working on a webpage and I want to put some French content onto it.

To test this page I just copied some characters in French and make my charset=utf-8.

But when I put it on the server, it just displays garbage. What am I doing wrong?

 
What editor are you using? It could be that your editor is trying to convert the characters into something else.
