Choppy Video using IBM PC Camera USB

System: ASUS P2B-LS w/BIOS 1012, P3/450, 256MB, Seagate X-15 Ultra160 SCSI, Win98SE.

Tinkered with settings in provided software, but even 30fps is still choppy. Limitation of USB? Need faster CPU? IRQ sharing?

Thoughts?

Thanks

Default, which is a tiny 176x144, but tried up to 352x288. 15fps updates quicker, but is blurrier. 30fps lags and drops frames

CPU and IRQ sharing shouldn't be problems. I have not seen ultra smooth (video camera quality) video on any webcam from the webcam3 up to and including 3com's and intel's cameras. Are you running anything else on the USB? These cameras usually do push the limits of USB. What camera are you using?
