Chopping Issue with Sceptre X20G LCD - ENDED

I recently bought the Sceptre X20G-NagaIII 20.1" widescreen LCD for my computer. The computer is high end (specs are below) and I didn't have any problems with my old LCD (which was normal ratio 4:3 and 19", it also had twice the response time).

My problem with the Sceptre is that its choppy when I'm in game or dragging windows around in the operating system, it looks like symptoms of low refresh rate (vertical tearing, etc) but it's running at 60 Hz (resolution 1680x1050) which should be sufficient, I tried lowering the resolution and running at 75 instead but that didn't help at all, still lots of chopiness.

Please help me out, I've been searching all over the net for the last hour or so, admitedly I'm not the best at searching but I couldn't find anything even closely related. Thank you very much for your time.

Specs:

Motherboard: ASUS A8N SLI Deluxe
Processor: AMD A64 4400+ x2 Toledo
Graphics: eVGA GeForce 7800GTX-KO
Audio: X-Fi Fatality
Storage: WD 74GB Raptor
Memory: OCZ DC EL 2048MB RAM

Most likely part of the "ghosting". The reason it chops is because all different colors transition at a different speed on an LCD. If it annoys you, you can make Windows not drag the window along, rather just an outline box.

Edit: Disregard this, it's a specific problem with that monitor fixed with a firmware update. See below.

First of all, thank you for the response.

I could try to do that but it seems like there is something wrong with the setup here, it's not just the windows getting dragged. I can see that the framerate seems crap when i move the cursor around for example. Surely it's not supposed to be like this? And it's problematic in games too. I need to find the source of the problem...

Just thought I should follow this up with what I've found out after more research, incase someone else out there has or is planning to get this monitor.

Apparently every other person I can find that has this same model has the same problem, they say it's "a huge refresh issue," which sounds pretty accurate to me. Basically if you don't mind slight laginess when browsing through windows explorer or playing in a game, then go for it. Overall I'm very surprised they're even selling a monitor like this, but then again you don't find many 21" LCDs, especially for under $500. It's ashame because the price was right, and it's a very sexy looking monitor. The picture is great too... but clearly I can't deal with the refresh thing, I'm a big time gamer and don't find that acceptable.

Thanks to everyone who had a look at this thread, even if you couldn't respond.

It's a known issue and people should be aware of this when considering the monitor. Just go to newegg and read the reviews. Sceptre will fix the monitor with a firmware update for free, however, buying a new monitor and have to RMA it just to get it working properly is dumb and really going to destroy any reputation sceptre is trying to maintain.

Otherwise, by all accounts it is a great for the money. But the tearing issue makes it a stay away from type item unless you have a spare monitor and can afford to have this one gone for a few weeks and don't mind the hassel of doing an RMA to save $100.

Ahh, thanks for enlightening us on that Demoth.

But earlier today I had lag in my cursor (right after XP reinstall) and it was my frickin' chipset driver and video driver combo, can you believe that?
