what is the premise?

16 contestants (eight groups of couples, like brothers, sisters, husbands/wives, cousins) are split up in half and are given a restaurant to run on the same street. So instead of the HK format where they're technically in the same kitchen serving two separate blocks of customers they just split them up.

So, it basically IS HK except they're in isolated environments. They're not Top Chef good, but the majority of them look like they can cook which is a far cry from Ramsay's gutter trash this season.

I'm impartial to the host, he just sits there and looks pissed all the time. Apparently hes the new host of ITVs HK? I've never watched it.

It looks like it, did you think there would be a NEW premise to a show like this? 🙂

I need to watch more of the original BBC versions of these shows. Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares is exponentially better than FOX KN. I'm sure they all are like that.

Isn't there already a show called "The Chopping Block"? Where 4 chefs make an appetizer, one is "chopped", then 3 make a main course, one is "chopped", then 2 make a dessert?

No... that is called "Chopped" it is actually a pretty good show.

I like Food Network's competition shows. Some are pseudo-reality shows with contestants being eliminated, but they are only ever one episode 🙂 (With the exceptions of Next Iron Chef and Next Food Netowrk star)

Yeah, and I like that show. I hate how they don't keep a fully stocked kitchen though. They ran out of eggs last episode and that was bullshit because it fucked both contestants. Also, people can never find stuff because they don't let them tour the pantry before hand. Fucking stupid.

The only competition show I don't like on Food Network is Ultimate Recipe Showdown. The first round makes sense, but the speed round with the 2nd dish makes no sense at all. Isn't the point to get the first item on the menu? How does the 2nd dish even matter?

Chopped is pretty good; unlike Iron Chef, the secret ingredient is actually secret - Iron Chef America expose
