Choosing the best ram - 2gb for AMD system

After reading HardOverclock's guide to doom3 hardware, and since i am going to build a monster system soon and then not upgrade for a long time, I want to purchase the best

I'm considering this Corsair Extreme 1gbx2 Low Latency Ram Is this overkill, It seems this ram has led's to tell you what is going on in the ram? My system will not be a clear case, so no one will see these led's. Is there top of the line comparable ram that isn't flashy for less?

Just curious.

They sell the same RAM without LEDs, but there also many other (cheaper) choices. This is asked ALL THE TIME, and AT has several very recent memory articles...

It's essential that you get a windowe case and the led ram. Plagues have been known to be avoided by knowing how actively your ram is being read.... Well it does look really cool, but don't bother without a window.
