Choosing RAM

Hi all,

I'm looking to build a new system in about a month. I not sure what RAM to pick though. I'll be getting the monitor later so I don't need to worry about that yet and I want to keep the cost for everything else below £600 (absolute max)

MSI K8n Neo4-F £60.81
Athlon 64 3200+ Venice £110.96
WD Caviar SE 80GB £37.78
Saphire X800 GTO² £123.32
plus case, PSU, mouse, keyboard, OS, speakers and dvd drive for £200 gives me a total of £532.69

But what RAM do I get? Whatever I get it will be a single stick for now. I'm not going to be extracting every frame possible from my system but I'd like to run games at decent quality. Is 512MB going to hold up ok or will I see a marked improvement with 1GB?

I can get a 1GB stick of Corsair VS for £65 which pushes me to £597.

Yeah it seems good value compared the SATA 300/SLI boards for £100+ and my trusty MSI-6183 with it's Slot One 450MHz P3 has held up pretty well for the last 6 years now :).

There is a noticeable difference between 512 and 1 gb of ram with most of today's games. Do yourself a favor and go with a 1 gb stick now, you'll thank yourself in a year.
